“Flashing” Information Center
Carrier Flashing is reprogramming your device to use with another carrier.
Example: I had my Sprint HTC EVO 3d “flashed” to CricKet wireless.

Remote Carrier Flashing is carrier flashing done in cyberspace. Meaning you don’t have to physically bring the device, but rather have it flashed via the internet.
Example: ReadySetROOT connected to my computer using Teamviewer, and remotely flashed my Sprint iPhone 4 to Page Plus.
Activation - A cellular service provider enables a device’s ESN/MEID/IMEI to become active on it’s network.
ESN or Electronic Serial Number - All mobile devices are identified by an Electronic Serial Number (ESN) or a Mobile Equipment Identifier (MEID). Some devices may display the ESN under the battery, below the battery or on the back of the phone. The ESN number is used by a CDMA network, notably Sprint or Verizon, to activate deactivate and blacklist mobile devices on their networks.
ESN - 11-digit Electronic Serial Number
ESN HEX - 8 characters that are numbers and letters
ESN DEC - 18-digit number (used by CricKet and Page Plus for activations)
Bad ESN - When a mobile device has been reported lost or stolen, the ESN assigned to that device is updated as “bad” or the device has a “bad ESN”. This also goes for instances when a customer hasn’t paid their bill and service has been disconnected.
MEID or Mobile Equipment Identifier - A mobile equipment identifier (MEID) is a globally unique number identifying a physical piece of mobile station equipment. A MEID is used by CDMA networks, notably Sprint and Verizon, to activate mobile devices. Some devices may display the MEID under the battery, below the battery or on the back. As with a mobile device’s ESN number, the MEID can also be used to activate, deactivate and blacklist phones and tablets.
**MEID is always hexadecimal, represented by 14 characters that are numbers and letters. The first digit is always A-F. Don't confuse the letter O with the number 0 (zero). It is always a zero. Only letters A-F are in an ESN/MEID.
ESN Change - Swapping your ESN number (mobile device) in a phone companies (CricKet, Page Plus, Straight Talk, Metro PCS) database or swapping the phone your using on your service.
Example: You have a CricKet account and are currently using a Huawei Ascend as your phone. You just flashed a Sprint iPhone 4 to work on CricKet and you would like to use it on your pre existing account. In this case you would request an “ESN Change” to activate your freshly flashed iPhone and deactivate your Huawei Ascend.
*By doing an ESN Change the ESN/MEID is changing in Cricket's system. Your phone's actual ESN/MEID (usually found under the battery) is NOT changing.*
